Scentsational Summer - Giveaway for Kaleidoscope Fest

By now you may know about our wonderful festival for female-identifying entrepreneurs , friends, and family! We’d like to take a moment and talk about quiet time! That moment when you shut the rest of the world away, take a very deep breath, and slide comfortably into your zone.

movie time scent.jpg

We’re here to help with that in so many ways - check out the festival highlights! We will have yoga, wellness speakers, chair massage, resources and information for little - and not so little - ways to decrease stress in life as a professional or entrepreneur! Click around on the link for details!

One of our vendors is Heavenscent by Aarynn. We knew about her candles, but did not know she makes 100% vegan skincare suitable for those with sensitivities - developed initially to treat their children’s eczema. And they also now have grown to curate 100% natural soy candles & wax melts. They offer a variety of products for adults & children.

We all know certain scents trigger memory or emotions. This one is called Movie Night! It has notes of lemon and caramel, and brings to mind a relaxing, warm, summer night at home. She has graciously offered a candle pack for one of our future attendees! It will include a 3-wick candle, a pack of candle melts, and a 6-pack of tealights. Check out our social media post for a recap of instructions on how to enter the giveaway!

Get tickets here on our tickets page (between now and the event)!

Like her FB page Heavenscent by Aarynn, and our festival page @KaleidoscopefestNC and tag us when you share the post for the most entries!

However your summer is going, we know it will be scentsational! Come join us! Relax, unwind, and align!

Summer Fun Rules! Kaleidoscope Biz Fest and a Royal Giveaway

Hey There!

Are you enjoying this summer so far? We’re making the most of this momentous time and doing some cool collaborations! So stay tuned for more fun out-of-the sun with our health and food-focused friends!

Recently we had a ball at Sassool Cafe in Cary during their Blogger Hummus Mix-off!

Blogger friend Jenni Field and I got to taste the beautiful and diverse creations which reflected a global culinary background. There was a good crowd milling through to vote on their favorite as well!

Blogger Ahn-Tuan did a version with pistachios. The Soul-Full Sisters Quinn and Paten Carlton did a hummus that was rich in creaminess and texture. The inventive Life Beyond Stuff entry was an homage to the Sahara Desert - which had a sweet and savory balance with spices. Blogger Beck did a Roasted Beet Hummus. Blogger friend Kate Kelly - Life of a Ginger Kate did a tasty take with Roasted Carrot and Sweet Potato in a terrine. Friends That Vegetarian Couple did two - a Thai version with coconut milk that reminded me of a Gaeng Massaman Curry, and a Black Sesame version called The Dark Knight. Cool beans!

Friend Cecilia Moreno (City Girl Cece) did a smoky, savory Roasted Poblano Hummus that was delicious and well-balanced, and her tablemate did a Masala-style version (I tasted Mehti, and it was confirmed). All were delicious! I was surprised a few had more salt than is normally my custom. I’m a salter. But none of them were undersalted, which says alot about the skill of the contestants and is pretty awesome. I won’t say which one was my fave, ;) but the ones I liked were well-balanced with the combinations of flavors!

Hummus was one of the things I made quite regularly for a deli service myself back in the day. I didn’t recognize it then but the Chef would have it for lunch himself. (Didn’t tell me!) The key is simple, quality ingredients with a balanced hand and a certain technique to get it nice and smooth - as a base. If one overdoes it - it’s easy to tell. So subtle combinations and balanced flavors are a good way to go.

Our friend City Girl Cece (IG) from the popular Food Diary of a City Girl (blog) also does Lipsense by Senegence, and was wearing the Purple Reign selection - her favorite! Well, we’re so excited that she’s also going to be a vendor at our upcoming women’s business event - Kaleidoscope Biz Fest! So we’re collaborating!

For the festival, we’re celebrating women in business - whether long-term entrepreneurs looking to grow in a different way, or full-time pros working that side hustle, you’ll enjoy a day off with us - addressing a whole-person approach to enabling your brand of genius:

  • Inspiring speakers from each major area of our biz and lives - Business growth, personalized wellness, de-stressing with our Yogi expert, looking out for your legal health with our small-biz attorney, and reaching for the stars at any stage in life with our NASA rocket scientist!

  • Fresh grazing table to welcome you and hot buffet at intermission -suitable for all dietary types.

  • Vendors of all backgrounds and areas are booked - from cosmetics, accessories, and fashion to home decor and services to make your busy life easier. We’ll also have some novelty item fun and even a book corner curated by Quail Ridge Books with local author tables covering romance, kids books, and more.

Get tickets here. Like our FB page and comment on our giveaway post here.

So in honor of the festival - we’re collaborating on an awesome summer giveaway so you can treat yourself like royalty too!

From now until August 13th, we’re offering a chance to win a beautiful lip color, gloss, and Oops! error remover - the entire kit valued at $55.00 from Luscious Lips by City Girl (FB)! My favorite part is that you can choose the color you like from her selection! The winner will be announced on August 14th. You must be present at the festival to claim your prize! Get your tickets, share, like our pages, and enjoy!

All set? Be sure to stop by her table and check out all of the gorgeous colors and products she has!

Triangle Gluten-Free Cooks - BlogStamina, Pickups, and Carrboro Bazaar

Greetings Friends!

We’ve had a wonderful, busy week!

Top of the list was the private chef day for the BlogStamina blogger extraordinaire retreat led by dear friend Jenni Field of Pastry Chef Online! It has been held from April 4th - 6th, 2019, wrapping up today. She’s a force of nature and rockstar blogger who has taught me a thing or two herself! It was a great pleasure to cook for her and the participants - all of whom are stellar folks - including dear friend and (also prolific) local author Nancie McDermott. There were a host of fine talents enjoying the deeply conscious program created to enhance their blogging endeavors. The setting was a gorgeous spread of a home with cozy nooks and crannies as well as wide open views in Raleigh. I’m hearing rumors of possible additional dates/locations… Check out their site and social media for updates on their programming!

The Blogstamina bunch wanted a gluten-free spread that everyone could enjoy, and we had a vegan entree option for vegan guest as well!

Their meal consisted of a composed arugula-mix salad with layers of seedless cucumber, roasted beets, and shaved carrot drizzled with a scratch-made citrus-basil vinaigrette and blood orange/navel garnish; yellow jasmine seasoned rice; vegan quinoa with roasted organic veggies: rutabaga, eggplant, zucchini, and squash; Peruvian seared (organic, air-chilled) chicken ragout (using non-gmo corn).

Composed organic and local salad layered with roasted, seasoned beets; seedless cucumbers and more… with scratch-made blood orange - citrus basil vinaigrette.

We’ve noticed our eggplant lasagna really taking off lately! We have regular pickups at locations around the Research Triangle, NC area and also deliver for an extra fee. Maybe it’s the busy times, the positive vibes, or the delicious food, but we’re always happy to share or schedule a special round with 48 hours notice. Regular pickup day is Saturday afternoon. We recently had a busy professional mom wanting to get a jumpstart on the week, and delivered directly to her office fridge as a stress-free dinner for the family! (Fee for delivery based on location, minimums required.) Contact us to schedule a delicious, organic dinner!

This will be happening Sunday! We've been looking forward to this a few months now! We're booked for Spring Bazaar 2019, and Carrboro Open Streets will be happening at the same time. Sometimes we all need a touch of strawberry shortcake in our lives. (Non-dairy option available.) We’ll also have our seasonal strawberry lemon curd stackcakes on deck! If you had them last year, you know how good it is. Don’t miss our Strawberry Palooza - it happens when the strawberries are fresh, sweet, and in-season locally! Stop through and take some to go!

That’s all of the updates for now! We’re heading to the farmer’s market!

Stay close and stay happy!
